These challenges don’t deter Noll Tufani, they drive him.
Noll is a senior international development professional who is highly motivated by opportunities to innovate and improve efficiency, especially through technology. In his career with Build Change, Noll has developed seismic retrofit methodologies for houses in Haiti and Nepal, created a mobile platform for construction technical assistance, and automated the retrofit evaluation and design process using AI, among numerous other advancements.
Noll joined Build Change in 2010 as the Haiti Program Finance and Administration Director. He subsequently headed the Haiti post-disaster construction program for four years, providing homeowner-driven reconstruction and retrofitting technical assistance to 2,000 families in the informal neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince from 2011-2015.
In 2013 and 2014, Noll broadened his role by leading Build Change’s expansion into Latin America. In 2015, Noll was appointed Director of Build Change’s post-disaster operations in Nepal. Based in Kathmandu, he oversaw, over the subsequent 5 years, the provision of homeowner-driven reconstruction and retrofitting technical assistance to 25,000 households in rural Nepal, managing a team of up to 150 staff. In 2018 Noll took over the additional oversight of Build Change’s post-disaster reconstruction operations worldwide and was charged with creating Build Change’s New Frontiers Technologies division.
In June, 2020 Noll was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Noll has an MPA from Indiana University’s Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs; a BS from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business; and a BA in Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Noll speaks seven languages, and enjoys tennis, photography, painting and opera in his free time.
