Meeting families in Bohol, Philippines

Kate Landry, our Philippines Director of Program and Partnerships Manager, visited Bohol in late March to begin the process of establishing Build Change as a local resource.

She met a homeowner named Roland Lingo, who showed her his ruined home. He has a wife and 3 kids, and his job is to install glass windows. The house belongs to his uncle but they were living in it before the Bohol earthquake on October 15, 2013. Now they live in a temporary shelter.

They will probably end up demolishing the house and reuse the materials they can to rebuild. Our role in the Philippines is to ensure that builders and homeowners have the knowledge and skills they need to rebuild safe homes which won’t collapse in future natural disasters.
