A Mw= 6.2 earthquake hits near Takengon, Aceh, up in the coffee-growing mountains, killing 35 people and damaging or destroying 4,300 houses.  With USAID OFDA support, Build Change starts an innovative, low cost per impact program to mobilize community members to provide technical assistance to over 2,500 homeowners to rebuild.  Build Change implements a large-scale awareness program through radio and flyers, and is successful in convincing many homeowners to rebuild from timber instead of masonry.
